Professor Sarwar B Salam was born in 1940 in Bangladesh. He was educated both in Dhaka and Karachi Universities where he obtained his bachelor and master degrees. He earned a MBA from the Indiana University in USA.

Mr. Salam was formerly a Member of the Faculty of Institute of Business Administration, Dhaka University and Dhaka University Senate. He was a writer and published articles in Bengali and English in various newspapers and two books of poems including “Probashe Mrittur Agey” and “Probashe Nirbashane”.

He moved and settled in USA in the year 1976 with wife Murshed J Salam who was also Professor of College of Home Economics and until recently was practicing as a Renal Dietitian in New York.

He has been practicing as a Certified Public Accountant in New York City since 1993 after leaving New York State Department of Economic Development as a consultant.

Contributions to The Optimists:

Professor Salam helped the organizers of The Optimists in the founding period by applying for and receiving the tax exempt status as a 501C)(3) charitable  organization was elected Chairman of The optimists and serving as such since 2009.
